Business Description
BUSINESS SUMMARY

This is a large and successful electrical contracting business. It can trace its heritage back some 25 years and was incorporated in 2000.

The core business is electrical contracting for commercial, industrial and domestic customers. Much of the work is undertaken for blue chip clients and local authorities.

The company employs around 50 staff, all appropriately qualified, with a full management hierarchy in place. Appropriate trade memberships and accreditations are held.

Over recent years a number of associated products and services have been introduced, affording additional income flows to the business.

CLIENTS AND MARKETS

The company has a strong commercial and local authority customer base. Approximately 55% of contracts by value are undertaken for construction companies and around 40% for various public sector bodies. The remainder is made up by domestic works.

Currently around 40 tenders per month are undertaken, with an average of around 30 – 40 active sites at any one time.

In addition to the core client base, advertising and marketing generates additional customers for domestic work.

A BRIEF HISTORY

The business was established by the current Director, back in 1985 as a regional electrical contracting business. Steady growth ensued, and the range of contracts has built up, with the limited company being incorporated in August 2000. Since incorporation, the turnover, staff number and profitability have all increased significantly.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

The company is qualified to undertake all types of electrical contracting work. This mainly involves:

• New build work on domestic housing developments
• Maintenance and refurbishment work on existing local authority housing stock

The range of work undertaken is varied however, and recently has included warehouse lighting, designer office refurbishment and a computer centre installation.

In addition, the company has also branched out into other work, including:

• domestic electrical testing
• electric water filled radiators
• alarms
• CCTV
• electric gates and doors
• security lighting
• portable appliance testing
• data cabling installations

These additional services are supported by a main company website, plus two others dealing with electrical testing and portable heating.

In order to support marketing initiatives and to comply with appropriate legislation, the company is an Approved Contractor under the NICEIC and NSI Silver schemes. The company is NHBC Safemark compliant.
